Can you still get pregnant after taking the morning after pill??
Question: I feel sick and have hot flushes and i had a weak period. something just dont feel right.
Answers: Do you mean that you had unprotected sex then took morning after pill, then had unprotected sex again? If so you would do well to ring NHS direct for advice.
From what you've said, it sounds like you're having side effects of MAP. Hot flushes signal hormone imbalence. Read the advice leaflet to see what side effects are. If you're still worried, take a pregnancytest.
yes you can im living proof of this,i took the morning after pill twice to be on the safe side lol and im now 5mths pregnant so nothing is 100%

Nothing is 100%, and the MAP is less effective the longer you leave until you take it. Personally if whatever reason you took it after 24 hours I'd be a little concerned - well concerned enough to do a test.
. . . it's probably the symptoms of the pill actually working on your system - next time, take the pill to bed with you the night before and hold it between your knees - you definitely won't get pregnant! . . .
The function of the morning after pill, Plan B, is not to have the fertilized egg implant in the uterine wall. If you took the pill properly then you should not be pregnant. However, if you didn't do it correctly or too late, etc., then get checked by your ob/gyn and be sure.

on the MAP it says that you need to take it within 24 hours of unprotected sex for it to be up to 95% effective.
Because it is such a high dose of hormones, it may make some women feel sick or actually be sick. The pharmacist will advise that if you are sick within 2 hours of taking it, you you retake another as soon as you feel better as it may not have been absorbed.
The pill may not work if you have unprotected sex soon after taking the MAP before your next period, so for example, if you take the MAP today then tonight have unprotected sex again and then your next period is due say next Tuesday you will have to again take the MAP to prevent pregnancy from the night you had the unprotected sex, the more times you take the MAP in cycle the more you could mess up your next bleed (I hope I have not confused you).
They also advise that you take a test up to 3 weeks after the unprotected sex to see if the MAP worked.
You say you hade a weak bleed, if it is strange in any way take a test.

Unfortunately yes. It's not 100% effective even when taken straight after the event. It's effectiveness decreases rapidly over the next 72 hours.
Must add that when I took the morning after pill I felt weak and sick for days. When the period finally arrived it wasn't as normal. It's definately worth taking a test, but it sounds like the pill is just working as it should.
remember they are not 100% . i have had testimonies of women who have!
My colleague has a 13 year old daughter to testify that this can happen!

Yes, they are not one hundred percent effective. BUT that is what that pill does to you, so I think its normal. It just pumped you full of mad hormones to kill all the sperm. You are more than likely going to feel sick and queezy for a few days.
