I am having a DNC and a Tubal Ligation this week and I was wondering. . .??
Question: I was wondering if I should take ONE day out of work or TWO days out of work.
I don't know how either procedure will feel. I assume I will be tired from the anesthesia for at least the day of the surgeries, but should I take another day?
How many days did you take out of work after a tubal ligation?
How many days did you take out when you miscarried / or after the DNC procedure.
I don't want my employer to think I am taking too many days out if I take two days. . .
Answers: If you're going to be under general anesthetic (asleep) - which is usually what is done for these two procedures, you should really take two days off from work. General anesthetics can continue to have unusual and unexpected effects for days after the procedure is finished. One study even demonstrated that trace amounts of the chemicals used as anesthetics remained in the bodies of patients up to six months after the procedure! In short, this is a major operation; 20 years ago, you would not even be having this done as an outpatient - it would have required a stay at the hospital. Take care of yourself, take an extra day to get better... and let your employer deal with your absence. You need to worry about #1 - YOU. Besides, two days in a row is not much to ask from most employers for a medical condition.
I'd take a couple -if you are having a DNC due to misscarriage remember your hormones are gonna have you a little weepy too.
I took a week off....and I'm so glad I did!!!
