Okay ladies or nurses, we need a final word??

Question: So I had my tonsils removed when I was 20 and the nurse giving an interview asked if I could be pregnant (I guess you can't have anesthesia) so anyway I said I didn't think so, then she asked if I had a period since the last time I have had sex. I then said I heard it was possible to have a period during the beginning of the pregnancy. She said that was a myth and that you may have some slight bleeding but it's not a period and you would know the difference. Now I have a coworker who is swearing she had her period the first 6 months she was pregnant and that's why she didn't know. I would just like some clarification. Is it possible to have a cycle when your pregnant. Thanks, sorry if confusing.
Answers: A pregnant person doesn't have a true period, since they're not ovulating/shedding their uterine lining. However, sometimes the person will bleed for whatever reason. Usually it's a lighter flow. It's always important to have bleeding checked out if you're pregnant, but sometimes things like the implantation into the uterus can shed some blood, so women don't realize they're pregnant right away. Technically, though, it isn't an actual cycle or a real period.
The official word is no, but I have several anecdotal words that it happens.

Yes it is possible sometimes your ovaries can ovulate at different times. It is for sure possible. Does not happen that often but can happen.
I had an aunt who was 4 months pregnant when she found out during a routine physical exam...she had had periods the whole time.
