Eugen Sandow, born Friederich Wilhelm Müller (Königsberg today Kaliningrad, April 2 of 1867 – London, October 14 of 1925), an athlete of Prussian origin, is considered the father of bodybuilding modern, having been the first to perform in exhibitions which showed their muscle. Sandow proclaimed a “Greek ideal” as to the proportions of the different parts of the body and was one of the first to market exercise equipment such as weights and pulleys.
