I need an eye exam, but what do I do??
Question: After years of lots of reading and working on a computer, I can tell that my eyes aren't focusing like they used to. Reading has become more of a task. I haven't had an eye exam for about four or five years - when I was in college. My insurance at work does not cover eye exams. Should I get an appointment at a lenscrafters or something like that? Or should I purchase insurance first?
Answers: If you have an America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses, they are really cheap and really good. Try that and then the other places. Call around for pricing.
Double check with HR to see if you have optical coverage. You might without realizing it.
Most places tell you how much eye exams are - I just had one at Sears Optical - the exam was $51. I also needed glasses and got them there - they were $230 - which was the Sears sale price, and the gal said it was cheaper than most insurance company plan. I also got a price at Pearle Vision for literally the same glasses from Pearle Vision - they were $546!
Try a Sears Optical, Vision Works, Sams Club, Walmart, Target - most of them have very good sales on glasses and you won't need the insurance.
go to the eye docter
An eye exam cost about 50 bucks. it's cheaper to get the eye
exam.
A simple eval will not cost much. Your not required to buy any glasses after the exam even though that's what they'll want you to do. Just call them & ask. Not harm in that.
