Some people can, some can't. You need to check with your eye doc to be sure.

it depends on what kind of contacts you have. ask your eye doctor.
i wouldnt because i tried it and my eyes got blood shot
you can but you shouldn't
they get really dry.
it's ok to take a nap but don't wear them overnight.
if you do put some re- wetting drops in your eyes when you first wake up. then when they feel normal again take them out a rinse them off.
you never want to take a dry contact out of your eye it should move easily first.
if you do wear them constantly after 48 hours you should let your eyes rest for at least 12 hours without wearing them.
Some contacts can be left in for about a month - others must be changed or taken out daily - check with your optician for information about whether you can have the long term ones or not
I am a Certified Ophthalmic Asst, and my answer is do not do it! I have seen to many bad things happen to cornea's because of people sleeping with them in. Don't do it, please!
Reading the answers, so many are mis-informed. If your optom or optician says you can, then you need to see someone else, like an MD ( Ophthalmologist) Wearing contacts to bed or overwear of contacts can cause something called Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis or GPC. Look on the web to see pics. Some people that develop GPC have to remain out of contacts for years. Also, as you sleep , you do not produce tears, therefore, the lens can adhere to the cornea causing a very painful corneal erosion. When you remove a contact that has adhered to an eye, it is like peeling skin off a grape. Very painfull, at times hard to treat and heal. Look at pics of corneal erosions on the web, nasty , nasty stuff.
I am not trying scare anyone to death, just stating the facts, I did this for 11 years and have seen some very nasty, vision devistating problems arise from over use of contacts. Ask any Ophthalmologist, a true eye doctor and he will tell you the same.
If you have the 31 day contacts yes but even then you shouldn't you could get eye infections.
Yes. There are some brands in the market that allows the user to wear it to sleep.
there are some that you can sleep with
You're not supposed to. Your eyes can't breathe well with contacts on, so they need a break at night. And when you dream (REM sleep), your eyes move around a lot, so you can lose a contact easily. One of my friends slept with his contacts in, and ended up losing a contact because it got stuck to the back of his eyeball! It finally fell out almost a week later!
If you are wearing soft contacts, it's OK to maybe take a short nap in them once in a while, but you should not be sleeping with contacts in regularly, for the reasons described above. Unless you have special extended wear contacts, which can be worn for several weeks at once, including at night. (If you're not sure whether your contacts are extended wear or not, they almost certainly are not. If they were extended wear, the doctor would have told you, and they would have cost more.)
If you wear hard contacts, you should not sleep in them under any circumstances. In addition to the losing contact problem described above, hard contacts can be easily broken when you are asleep and literally don't know what you're doing. And broken glass is the LAST thing you ever want in your eye!
If you alsolutely have to and don't often, it probably won't do any harm. Some contacts are approved and made so you can sleep in them. It's def. best not to unless you really have to, though. Check with your doctor for more info.
