I have a severe astigmatism. Should I take a "eye" supplement or something to keep it from getting any worse??
Question: I am pretty nearsighted too! I ordered some pinhole glasses to try. I don't have enough cornea for Laser surgery and I don't want to be blind by the time I'm 40! Any ideas would be appreciated.
Answers: Astigmatism is related to the shape of the cornea. It is an inherited trait. The shape of your nose is the way it is because you have inherited that structure. Your ears look like they do because you have inherited that structure. Taking a vitamin will not change the shape of your nose, nor your ears, nor your corneas. The only proven way of permanently changing the shape of your cornea is with laser vision correction.
Diet can help. My mother in law had astigmatism's. She started drink the anti oxidant drink Monavie about 5mo ago and went back to the eye doctor because her glasses where making her vision blurry. The Doctor told here that here astigmatism's are now gone and see will need a new prescription for the better. E-mail me and I can give you some more info on the stuff. Curious as to what your script is....
everyones eyes change over time. I don't know that pinhole glasses would help. We choose careers that accommodate what vision we have. Certainly a multi-vitamin helps the body and I do know that poor nutrition does affect the eyes, however I don't know that it has anything to do with or has any affect on astigmatism. The only thing I could suggest is that you talk it over with your ophthalmologist, and then in later years if you're super concerned then get a second opinion.
Has your astigmatism always been this severe? Or was it pretty low in the beginning when you started wearing glasses? Did it (astigmatism) get worse on your last eye exam? What is your age?
Will try my best to help.
EDIT:
My astigmatism has always been pretty bad.
Was it this bad (325 375) in the beginning or was it much lower in the beginning?
My nearsightedness, i guess, is what really seems to get a little worse every few years.
You can easily stop your nearsightedness from getting worse, if you want.
