Is it optional to get the astigmatism contacts if i have astigmatism,or do i have 2 use that special contacts??

Question: i want 2 get contact lens, but its possible that i have astigmatism, but personally, i don't like to spend extra money to buy the astigmatism lens if it just makes me comfortable. i currently wear glasses, but i don't have any difficulties seeing stuff even though it wasn;t specially made for astigmatism, i think. plz answer as soon as possible!! thnx!
Answers: It depends on your cylinder prescription. If it is weak, there are certain soft-contacts that somehow pull out some of the astigmatism despite not being designed for that. I know Acuvue disposable lenses are like that. If you have to go to other soft contacts, and your astigmatism is weak, the eye doctor can write an in-between prescription. It would be stronger than the non-astigmatism part, but weaker than with the additional strength prescribed for the area with astigmatism.

For me, I'd rather have the torical lenses if I was to wear contacts. They are clearer than a compromised spherical-only prescription. My astigmatism is worse than when I was prescribed contacts, and since I don't have the money for the more expensive lenses and the frequent exams required for all contacts, I'll just stick to glasses.
It depends on the severeness of your astigmatism.. If it is mild, then its highly likely that you'll be able to wear normal lenses, if not then its far better for you to invest in lenses specifically for astigmatism, because they provide far better vision. If you wear normal lenses and have a fairly high astigmatism, it is likely that your vision will be blurred, and your lenses will not be very stable on your eye. Your prescription for glasses is completely different from that of a contact lens prescription, so just ask the advice of your optician. You never know, you still might be able to wear standard lenses.
Just ask your eye doctor if they think you would be able to wear them.
If you have an astigmatism, get the toric lenses, they are totally worth it. I have an astigmatism and I loved my original contacts, which were the torics. After those monthlys were gone I ordered some Acuvue color-enhancing lenses and realized why the doctor told me not to get them. They were WAY too soft for my eyes. They would spin, they didn't stay in place, they were an absolute nightmare.

If your doctor says you need special lenses, get them. They are so much more comfortable and worth the extra $$$.
