Trouple reading eye prescription, incomplete??
Question: I am looking to buy glasses online and my prescription does not have anything listed under the left CYL. and the left Axis. It just shows:
Distance:
Eye SPH CYL Axis
R -250 -025 130
L -300 blank blank
(everything else is blank)
Should I just assume that cyl is -025 and the axis is 130 for both?
Also is it -025 or -02.5 ? I'm pretty sure the sphere value is also decimal ( -2.5 and -3.0 ) but wasn't written either. Also I can't call the place because its been about 6 months.
Answers: Optical prescriptions are good for 12 months, so there's no reason you can't call them and ask. Also, if you are buying glasses online they will want to check your prescription from the prescriber anyway. If they do not check, the company shouldn't be trusted to provide quality glasses.
You are buying glasses. You want to be sure you are getting the right perscription. It's been six months. Perhaps it's worth getting your eyes examined again?
Just think about it.
JD..is right your right eye has a slight astigmatism corrected with the -25 cylinder power..your left eye has no astigmatism..so no cyl or axis is needed..very very common.
and..if you get glasses ..get the thin lenses..cus..a minus prescription like yours will have thicker edges than the middle..so you will want to invest in thinner lenses...
Go to the doctor.
ok go 2 doctor
Your left eye is sphere power only. There is no need for cylinder or axis.
Please note:
When you buy glasses online, make sure you have a money back guarantee if the glasses don't come out correctly. You will have to have a pupillary distance measurement before ordering. Most optical shops may charge to take this measurement if you don't purchase from them.
You can call the place. Just say you were too busy and weren't able to get to it.
Or you can try going into 1 of the big eyeglass stores & ask if they can write it out for you.(Lenscrafters, Pearles, General Vision Center, etc.)
Call the dr just to be safe. Speaking as a former optical tec I commonly saw RX's with no astigmatism in one eye and low astigmatism in the other. That is notthing to worry about. It just means one eye has astigmatism and one eye does not.
