Lazy eye..??

Question: i have a lazy eye and i am tired of people calling my funny eye. my family doesnt have enough money for me to have surgery.and i want it fixed bc then maybe i will have more confidence.

I heard if i put a patch over my good eye and only see with my lazy eye it will make it stronger. but i also heard this could ruin my good eye and i already have poor vision.
Is this true.

Do you have any advice.

Thank you
Answers: Don't do the patch thing! Trust me, I have had lazy eye ever since i was in third grade. The patch didn't even help me when i was that young. I think it made my vision worse.

Contacts REALLY helped me. My lazy eye used to go off to the side every couple seconds. When i got contacts, it only goes off to the side about once a week.

I know, it is really embarassing. People used to tease and laugh at me all the time.

Also, i noticed that whenever i get tired, my eye seems to get more lazy and goes off to the side even more. I started drinking coffee and that helped me stay awake and it helped my eye too because i wasn't as tired.
Have you tried patching before? Unfortunately at 17 years old, there isn't much that patching will probably be able to do for you. Patching is much more successful before about 7 years old (and that is kind-of getting old). Since others are noticing your lazy eye , are you saying that it is turning?
