Can I have surgery to correct vision If I have astigmatism??

Question: I currently wear glasses. One lens is a lot thicker than the other. I can't see far without glasses, but can't read a book if I am wearing them. I still need to wear them to see the tv a few feet away. Can I do anything, i.e. laser surgery to have all this corrected? Is this from astigmatism, or am I nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other.
Answers: Astigmatism has nothing to do with that. An astigmatism is simply that the curvature of your eyes is more steep as opposed to a normal eye or a person with out an astigmatism. People with astigmatisms have a hard time wearing contacts and usually have problems with focusing. Even still you can have Lasik done with this condition. You should talk to your Ophthalmologist or a Lasik eye surgeon to properly screen you for possible laser eye correction surgery. Not everyone is a good candidate and some people may require different procedures for different reasons. Your doctor or surgeon can best tell you what decision will be the best for you.
of course you can. my bf has the same problem. its pretty expensive, forgot how much but htey can definately do it. my bf has astigmatism too and one eye is worse, he already talked to his optom. about it so you can too.
Sounds like one eye is just needs more correction than the other & you need bifocals. Lasik will correct your distance vision & your astigmatism if it's not too heavy, but you may still need bifocals or reading glasses after surgery.
Doctor will diagnose which laser surgery you will need.
lasik will be optimal for you , could you please e-mail me ur prescription numbers to give you more information
With new technology these days you can correct astigmatism, Depending on your prescription and the amount of corneal tissue you have, ( you are only born with so much) Also note that if you are unable to see 20/20 in your glasses, most likely that will be the same after LASIK. Lasik can only correct you to what your eyes are capable of seeing with correction (contacts/glasses) Hope that helps you!

You can most likely have surgery to correct all of this but you need to discuss this with your eye doc not someone on here. Without knowing what is exactly wrong with your eyes it is hard to say for sure what they will recommend or tell you.
You need to talk with an eye doctor--I cannot tell you form your description what your eye problems are. Yes, you can probably use laser correction, but you need to do a ton of research before you decide to have sugery done (and don't even think about it if you have dry eyes). Laser surgery can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
