You should try every kind of contacts, thats what i have, but if your rich(i'm not) get Lasik Eye Surgery.
I didn't want glasses either.
Contact lenses out there do exist for astigmatism. I can't imagine the cost is much different than for normal contacts but you may want to look into that.
Contacts take some getting used to, but once you're used to soft lenses it's easy to forget they're even there, so that seems better than glasses.
Take care of your glasses, if you need them, you will get used to it...
Ask your doctor for another type of contacts. It's often because they are dirty or dry. For example, every time yo put in your contacts, put extra solution on it. I have glasses which I only wear when I'm too lazy to put in my contacts on the weekend. I also have contacts and sometimes they can be uncomfortable, but I fix them. Talk to your doctor about it.
The only suggestion I can give you is too keep trying on different glasses and make sure they fit to the size of your head. I have had various glasses and the best ones for me were wire rimmed glasses that were made to fit the size of my head. Then the nose pads, and around my ears didn't hurt so much.

They have contacts for people with astigmatism. I've been wearing them for over 5 years.
