2x I woke up in the middle of the night blind in my right eye, vision comes back after a short period. cause??
Question: I wear contacts so I'm used to blurry vision with no glasses on - but this was blind - like my eye was closed. And only in my right eye both times.
Answers: What you are describing demands a thorough ocular examination. Total but transient loss of vision in one eye sounds suspiciously like you are having transient ischemic attacks in the right eye. This condition occurs when debri in the carotid artery breaks loose and travels up into the anterior carotid supplying the eye. When the debri reaches a point where the artery has narrowed to the point it will not allow the debri to travel further, it blocks the flow of blood to all portions of the eye past the point of obstruction (hence you lose all vision). The beating of the heart, though, sometimes will break the debri into smaller pieces which can travel down the artery to a very small arteriole and allow a return of blood to the majority of the eye (hence the vision returns). You need to go in and have this looked at.
IF this is what is happening, you could develop a blockage that does not clear and can result in permanent total loss of vision. Also, if the debri happens to travel into the posterior carotid you could have a stroke.
Somehow there is pressure on the eyeball from the way you sleep ?
Eat one carrot a day, every day, religiously.
