******Psychaitric records-- Obtaining them?******??

Question: Currently, I find myself in the position of trying to obtain medical records from a psychiatrist, but in which way shall I go about it? It's my knowledge that medical records can be obtained and amended if an unbiased psychiatrist evaluated a patient, and determined that the previous diagnosis was incorrect.

Question- How could a patient change his psychaitric record, if it has been determined he was misdiagnosed? What steps must I take to get this done?
Answers: First, ask your current psychiatrist for a copy of your medical records. If he doesn't want to give them to you, then have him send a copy to your primary physician. After that, then find another psychiatrist and have him evaluate you *before* he sees your records. This way he won't be influenced by what is on the medical records.

Best of luck.
