Can Adderall and Dexadrine make you crazy??
Question: I take adderall and dexadrine for narcolepsy with hypersomnia. I have noticed that since I started on them 2 years ago I have developed OCD like symptoms. I will redo things-usually paperwork or cleaning and organizing over and over again until its exactly how i want it to look. I cant really focus so nothing ever gets completely done. What side effects have other adults noticed?
Answers: I've had some of the same problems, but then again, I had most of them before I was taking it. Adderall and Dexedrine are both amphetamines, and mixing them is pretty rare. There's nothing wrong with reading up on them on your own, but you should run any questions by a doctor and/or pharmacist.
You should check the side effects profile of your medication or call a pharmacist. Sometimes stimulant medications can cause behaviors similar to what you are describing. You should also call your physician immediately to discuss your side effects.
I find that I will clean when I take Dexedrine. While normally I wouldn't if I take my medicine I will. Of course I am prescribed Dexedrine for ADHD so it is a bit different. Adderall did make me very moody, I'd get mad for no reason., I also would get really nauseas.
I figure that if my cleaning and making sure that things are done right is a side effect, and if the medicine is working to keep my ADHD in line then it is a side effect I can deal with.
I am prescribed 15mg of Adderall XR and take it daily. I also experience OCD like symptoms. For example, I always go on cleaning rampages and everything in my apartment has to be in perfect order. I can spend hours just cleaning my bedroom, when it should've only taken about 20 minutes or so. Another crazy-like side effect is that I feel the need to write down EVERY thought that comes across in my mind...so I will some times have tons of post-it notes that cover my entire desk...it's insane! I however don't experience these side effects on a daily basis...just occasionally, thankfully! Hope I helped!
