Answers: Technically, yes, it's possible to get dumber. People's IQs often go down after a stroke or head injury. But I'm assuming neither of those have happened to you!
My theory? You're probably stressed out. It seems you're generally not paying attention to the world--do you have a lot on your mind?
There's no reason to think you're getting dumber; though. One brain can only handle so much, and apparently you're handling a lot already--no wonder you lose track of things sometimes.
I guess you zoned out and just ended up on autopilot, and kept flushing the toilet because that was the last thing you intended to do before you zoned out.
Getting enough sleep? Being sleep-deprived can easily cause this sort of thing. If you're not getting enough sleep, no wonder you feel dumb! (People do worse on IQ tests when they haven't had enough sleep.)
Question: Were you ever diagnosed with ADHD? This kind of problem with forgetfulness and inattentiveness sounds like you could need a meds adjustment. However, most people are inattentive and forgetful sometimes--ADHD is only when it happens even when you're not stressed, and happens so much that it interferes with your life.
If you haven't had these problems all your life, and you're having them now, then it's probably stress, not ADHD. If, on the other hand, you do have ADHD, have a talk with whoever handles your treatment. Maybe you need to learn a few new techniques to help you focus, or maybe your meds need to be changed or increased.
Advice:
1. If you're naturally inattentive, try some of the strategies used by people with ADHD to stay focused. (Google it--plenty of advice on the Web. Ritalin is not the only way. Try coffee, if you want chemical help.)
2. If you're not getting enough sleep, get some. You might lose an hour awake, but you'll be much more clear-headed the rest of the time. It's a good bargain.
3. Relax. If you have trouble relaxing--if you're naturally anxious, for example--try learning meditation or progressive-relaxation. But any activity that makes you feel good will work; you don't have to meditate. Music, reading, a hobby, a walk, a bath... Whatever works, do it. Worrying takes up too much energy to be worth it.
Good luck.
Sometimes if you just aren't paying attention you can do things that seem really stupid. This doesn't mean that you're stupid. Just concentrate better on what you are doing. If you have a hard time doing that then you should see a doctor. You might be depressed or anxious and that can make it hard to think straight. Good luck.
You have to keep your brain working by studying, puzzles, reading and so on.
This keeps up the pattern to get the brain working so it will get sharper. Also, eating salmon helps stimulate the brain.
It is when you can't even spell dumber in the first place.
With enough practice and skill, yes.
u r definately not ready 4 college if u dont know even know how to spell dumber. oh yeah and it is possible if its u!!!!!!!!!!!!
no, sometimes people who are overwhelmed about stuff may develope obsessive compulsive disorder, see ur doc if this continues, u may need to be on meds to help u.
If you are under a lot of stress you may be experiencing some obsessive behavior.
You need to talk to your doctor.
