Am I strange??
Question: I have a facination with the minds of serial killers and with ghosts and spirits and other paranormal stuff.
And yet I am against violence, a total scaredy cat and very kind and gentle in everyday life.
Why would I be interested in such strange stuff when it doesn't go with my personality at all?
Answers: Seen as you say that all of that goes against your personality you may just be fascinated by it because you don't understand how people could be so cruel or evil and you want to try to understand it.
I watch all those shows on TV. I am interested too but I do not like violence. If you are strange, so am I.

People often are curious in the behavior of others . Especially when the behavior is bazaar and not logical, one may seek out there curiosity , and consume a lot of there mental attention and thoughts as to HOW, WHY, WHO. Its the stuff that makes no sense to us that arouse curiosity. Does the grass in your yard arouse your thoughts? probably not.....But the opposite sex arouses our curiosity not only for sexual drive but not understanding why, how , the other sex is so different.

Why would you be interested in such things?
They go against nature, therefore, they are interesting.
I think it is natural to be curious. If it becomes an obsession though and it is all you can think about and it consumes you then this would not be normal.

As an analyst I see you have a latent anger towards some people. Obsessing about murder will place you closer to it. There are anger built into minds from warnings at school and home about bad guys. Little girls want to kill a bad guy just to make mommy happy.

if there weren't any people around like that who would solve the crimes? who would go into forensics and who would work in funeral homes to make things easier on the suffering families? if there weren't people who didn't want to figure things out like that yet still didn't perform the acts themselves we would have considerably more unsolved murders in the world....
