How do nurses learn about anesthesia??

Question: I understand that they take theory and classes but I was wondering if they do pratical exams and learn on each other. For example would the have to recive local injections? would they have to have IV sedation so they know what it feels like? would they have to have laughing gas?

also what is it like to have a student do this the first time I assume that you have to wear all the attire that a dentist does so it must seem a little nervous
Answers: Im a podiatry student in Australia and do a subject in 3rd year called anasthesiology which is half theory, half prac. We practice on each other and administer locals in an exam. Once the lecturers deem us capable we can give them to patients under supervision. Nothing to worry about, its not as big a deal as what you would think. I dont think they would be letting you go under IV sedation for learning purposes.
For the first time you will just have a supervisor over your shoulder but they will assume you are capable. No special treatment.
All the best and dont pass out!
