Do you grow around your birthday?! i am 15 years old will i grow!??
Question: i am 14yr old girl (15 next week) and im about 5'5.5 . I weigh about 113 bs. I want to be a high fashion model and i am doing some local things now. my question is do you think i will grow to be at least 5'8 ?my mom is 5'5 -5'6 and my dad is about 5'9 ( i know a little short) but my grandfathers are both over 6'. i got my period when i was a little younger then 14 (about a year and 4 months or so ago) and my mom told me that you grow for 2 years after your period becomes regular (mine became regular about 3 months ago or so). I am not so convinced and i really want to achieve my dream! also i have scoliosis(its irrelevant to my height)but when the doctor took an ex ray he said i have no growth on my pelvis area which affects growth(he said it usually completes growth around age 14 and i am 14 and it has even shown up yet)lastly my joints have been very achy at night lately not nessisarily while im sleeping but does this mean im growing?id really like some feedback/info! thanks!
Answers: I don't think you'd feel yourself growing while you were growing. You're probably sleeping weird and aching. You could ask your doctor to look at your joints. You might grow and you might not. It depends on whether you got your height genes from your mom, or your grandpa's, or your dad's. if you have your mom's you might not grow all that much. I doubt you'll be 6'0. But it's posible you could be 5'8. Its just more sommon for woment to be 5'6.
well if your mom is about 5'6 and your dad is about 5'9 then you will probably be right inbetween that height probably around 5'7 or 5'8. so you probably will grow a little bit more. but good luck with your modeling!
You grow for up to 3 maximum 4 years after getting your period I was 5'7 when I started and Im now 6ft-6ft 1'. You may be able to get into glamour shots instead of catwalk if you don't grow much more. Good luck with it
you do have problems i dont care
and you grost talking about PERIODS who needs to now
I think your doctor is an idiot. The x-ray sign you are talking about is Risser's Sign and it measures bone maturity by observing growth plate on your pelvis. The numbers range from 0-5..5 being completely fused and no more growth left.
I have never heard of Risser 0 at age 15..2 years after menarche. The reason you don't see the growth plate is because you are Risser 5..which means you have completed your growth.
A person goes through 2 growth peak and second one starts around a year or 2 before your first mensturation (not after it becomes regular) and slows down until 1-2 years after first period (again..i'm not talking about being regular).
You have pretty much completed your growth. I think only way for you to increase your height would be to work on your posture as if you have flat feet, increasing arch could give you additona .5-1inch.
If you have increased Kyphosis on your upper back as many girls do, correcting that could give you additional inch or 2...
Good luck..
