HRT how long once starting hrt do hot flushes stop??

Question: i suffer 20-30 flushes a day started hrt 10 days ago and they are still there! driving me crazy,i didnt realise how badly they affect your whole life and how bad you feel... help please
Answers: I might have expected your symptoms to have at least started to abate by now. If you have a good GP, he is probably sticking to current best practise, this is to use the smallest effective dose. This might mean that you are on a dose insufficient for your needs. Give it another 2 weeks and if things have not improved go see him again as it may be you need a higher dose.
It is impossible to explain a hot flush to anyone!! especially men!!
For me It starts off like a prickley feeling, usually top to bottom, from my face downwards. Then the heat and the throbbing senstaions. Its horrible and i know exactly what yuo are going through.
It should normally only take about 2 weeks. I would wait another week.
I have a weeks withdrawl bleeding with my hrt, and after only 3 days the flushes start to creep back! but then a few days after the new course i am back on track again. Its a good excuse to stay in bed and rest for me! Don-t know about you but they make me feel soo tired aswell.
good luck with the hrt! it gets better believe me.
The hormones will kick in eventually to give you some relief -it's a life-saver, especially at night when you have to be up for work in the morning - and we had to resort to single beds; it's a bit disturbing for your mate when you are up and down all night changing your jim jams! Unfortunately, you can't stay on hrt forever, so I'm afraid that when you come off it, the flushes may return although not as violently.
Have you looked at Black Cohosh from somewhere like Holland and Barratt? The Sheila loaf also helps because the soya mimics your own hormones.
