After a surgery, and the anesthesia wears off, are there any other lasting side effects??
Question: Shivers? Irritability?Crying? Acne? Constipation? Anything?
Answers: I am recovering from surgery right now and have had all of the above symptoms. I also had a panic attack when I woke up in the recovery room which consisted of shivering and shaking. Plus, my husband says there were tears falling down my face for hours :(
Don't worry, it is bearable and the brain does a great job of forgetting it all afterward. I am already looking to schedule another surgery!
Uncomfortably enough, constipation is usually one of the side effects of anesthesia. After my surgery last summer, I remembered this side effect from other surgeries when it happened again. The wonderful nurses at the hospital I'd had surgery at suggested half doses of Milk Of Magnesia 12 hours apart (one at night, and if it didn't do the trick, one in the morning).
i have had all of the above minus acne, but it wears off within a day or two. I was also very dizzy and my gait was very unsteady.
A little light headedness, some forgetfulness, slower reflexes, etc. That is why they want you to have someone with you to take you home.
i had four surgeries in a year and i had no problems with any of that. just hope the anesthesiologist calculated the right amount of medicine.you lay there and then before you know it you are waking up. if it's a simple surgery then you ok, if it's complex, then you may wake up and when it all wears off you will feel pain. that's all............but then my hands they just go limp on me sometimes nmfknjdsvjvvvnkvj jhh v ;kjbm,l b'l . no lol. just kidding. it's been three years i'm good.don't worry
There's a chance of all of the above. Also a chance you will not have anything but pain. Take pain meds as directed and drink lots of fluids. Cracker and sprite or 7-up to start so you don't get sick to your tummy.
When I first woke up from my anesthesia, I felt like I couldn't breathe, or like I was having a panic attack for about 10 seconds. The nurse ignored me though, and told me to stop being dramatic. I found out later that that is completely normal, and most people experience that. I'm just letting you know so it's not as devestating to you as it was to me. :) Good luck with your surgery!
I've had a few surgeries..... mostly nausea - which leads to crying.....especially if the surgery was in your abdomen!!!
Pain, dry lips (have someone there to put water on your lips or ice) because they don't let you drink right away... and the water feels like heaven. Just pass out and wake up later - it's a lot better in a few hours (in a painful kind of way!!!! HAH) Good luck!
