Can a chiropractor treat scoliosis??

Question: Is there any non-surgical means of treating scoliosis, other than jumping in a time machine and wearing a brace as a kid?
Is there anything a chiropractor can do?
Answers: The chiropractor can help relieve tensions and stop it from progressing, but the spine isn't going to straighten out completely. A previous poster mentioned exercises, and she is correct in saying exercises play a significant part in treatment. There are really no surgical solutions if you're older than 16 years old, and the time machine idea is fun but the brace wouldn't have helped that much either. The key is to not let the joints become immobile, and keep good range of motion. Definitely see the chiropractor, it will keep the joints loose and he/she will help you with the exercises.
I can give you a Japanese, Shiatsu-style, massage, for relief!
I have scoliosis, and see a chiropractor at times. He/she cannot straighten your spine, but he can release certain tensions in your neck, back and pelvis to help with pain. They can also give you stretches and exercises to help keep your muscles strong and your back from getting worse. I recommend seeing one- and also it doesn't hurt to see a physcial therapist for muscle strengthening exercises. You can help prevent worsening curvature and pain, by keeping your abs and back muscles strong and limber.
A chiropractor may be able to help with functional (non-structural) scoliosis, but cannot do anything for idiopathic scoliosis.

Scoliosis can be either structural or functional.

Functional (or nonstructural) scoliosis involves a temporary change of spinal curvature. This is caused by an underlying condition such as a difference in leg length, muscle spasms, or inflammatory conditions, (e.g. appendicitis), which may produce muscle spasm.

Structural scoliosis develops as a result of unequal growth of the two sides of the vertebral bodies. The two main types of structural scoliosis are congenital and idiopathic. Congenital means present at birth. Congenital scoliosis is the result of malformation of part of the spine. Idiopathic is a medical term meaning occurring without known cause.
NO
Finding a cute chiropractor to rub on you will make you feel better, but will not straighten your back.....
