Answers: I'll step up. The obvious answer is that most of us would love to. Who does not care about their own health? Universal health coverage should not be reserved for the well off. Not in the richest country in the world. Other countries have good models for this.
I'm 47. I've visited a doctor maybe 5-6 times in the last 25 years. And only because I had to. But I also maintain (mostly) a healthy lifestyle.
Sadly, It's all about economics.

Because I have no health coverage I only go when I'm nearly dying, I would go regular if I was covered. It's something that needs to get more attention too, so I'm glad you put that out there. Maybe some of the political yahoo answer fans will stumble upon it & decide to help us out a little.
I only go to a doctor when I am sick. I'm not wasting my money If it's not necessary.
I get a physical every year. I think it's a good idea.
I do now that I am older - proactive and all that. When I was younger I just went to the Dr. when I had to. It also depends on your lifestyle and family history of serious illnesses.
