Why are doctors quick to give a wrong diagnosis, instead of admitting they don't know for sure??
Answers: I have known SOME doctors that do exactly that. They don't take the time to listen to a patient. They ask a few rehearsed questions, which I think tend to lead to a limited set of diagnoses.
Other doctors ask many questions and listen carefully to each answer. These answers should trigger the next questions. These answers, PLUS the confirmed observations are what SHOULD lead to a proper diagnosis. And sometime, when it does not, tests are required to gain the information needed.
Yes, doctors are often stumped and even fooled. I had a great doctor who shocked the hell out of me by saying, Medicine is not an exact science. I was surprised to hear this admission. I use to think that, if any science was exact, then medicine was it.
I guess I was wrong.
Do you ever watch the TV show House? Wow! What an eye opener!
Because the drug companies told them to?
My whole theory behind that goes as follows,
If a doctor tells you that they don't know whats wrong with you, wouldn't you then be more apt to not return there? Personally, if a doctor told me that had no idea I'd question their ability.
They don't want to lose business. So if they can tell you it's something and hope it goes away they are in the clear, if not they can just say Oh it appears such and such problem has progressed..you'll need to see another type of doctor now. Then they got paid and your problem is out of their hands.
Well because they want to act like they know everything so even if they do not know they will come up with something.I personally do not trust most doctors.
that is why it is called practicing medicine. they never know for sure.
And lose face?
God complex. Hmmm... You have a general upper respiratory infection. Here, take these antiobiotics and call me if your symptoms continue or get worse after 10 days.
I personally don't trust doctors. A doctor can also be made to do things that he knows he shouldn't do. Don't put them on a pedestal with the ethereal lights going full blast. Every heard of lobotomies?
Because they do not want to look stupid... They should not do that because this is how alot of them get sued. That happened to me once, I was given wrong medication and when I went to see another doctor they said why did this doctor give you this... This medication is so wrong for, I should have sued...
