How much water should I drink to flush system of Barium??
Question: I had a CT scan and had to drink 2 bottles of barium (ugh!), I also got injected with the contrast dye. The doctor told me to drink lots of water to flush out my system. How much is lots?
Answers: That must be the standard instruction--I just had a CT scan with the barium (3 bottles!) and the dye this morning and they told me exactly the same thing. Sorry I don't have an exact answer, either, but they did tell me water is best but coffee, tea and juice are OK, too. I'm aiming to drink about a half liter of water per hour. I'm only on my second bottle so far . . . happy sipping!
