Any suggestions for removing a stubborn, deeply wedged sliver in a child's foot??

Question: Doctor has removed what she can. Hoping now for infection to push out the remaining slivers. Watching that infection doesn't spread from localized area. Child in quite a bit of pain. Sliver is between two toes.
Answers: Please, follow the doc's advice. Keep regular follow up appointments and do not try at home procedures. You must trust the doctor and follow his/her advice. If you do not believe the doctor is doing all possible or doubt the treatment, seek a second licensed physician. Your daughters health and well being is worth more than receiving hazardous advice from public sources. I am a RN and would not consider giving advice for at home procedures...Let alone those who are unlicensed. Seek a podiatrist.
Soak in warm/hot soappy water to keep skin soft and make it easier to get out. Can you squeeze from behind it to force it out?
I've heard to use like elmer's glue put it on let it dry and when you peel it off the sliver should come out. Never tried it before but it's just a suggestion
Sometimes water can help. Soak the foot or give a normal bath and see if it's come out a bit. Then (after asking doctor advice) try hydrogen peroxide, diluted, which may help with the infection and push it out with the bubbles. Good luck!
try soaking the foot in some epsion salt mixed in warm water. It might help. It helps get out splinters.Should help that. Try it but if t doesn't work watch it and keep checking with the doctor because the infection could spread through the blood stream to the heart and death might follow.
doctor has it right but i would soak it in water with a little peroxide. but he body will eventually push it out...

Have him sit on the side of the tub or in it, add warm water and a few teaspoons of salt. Just let him soak the foot till the water cools down. Repeat as needed, pat dry. You can try a poultice at night I have used it to remove stubborn slivers before.
When you have a cut or infection you put this on.

You take a slice of bread and just take the center of the bread. You put a little bit of milk in a pot, warm it up, then put the bread in it. Then but the bread on the cut or infection and wrap it in a cloth till the next morning. By then the infection is gone.

To draw out pus from a boil you crack an egg and take the lining off of the shell. The lining is wet and slippery. You put the lining on the boil and wrap it up for the night. In the morning the boil should have come to a head, and is ready to Burst!!

This also works if you have a sliver that is in deep
I use a saltwater soak, about 1/2 c. of salt to a dishpan of water..it draws out the infection and will help heal it quickly.
The doctor has it right, eventually the body should push it out on it's own and just treat the infection with the usual care. How did he get a sliver between his toes?!
At the drugstore, usually near the pharmacy is a product called Drawing Salve. I'll warn you, it stinks, it is black but it will work. It is an ointment that you put on the wound and it will draw out both the sliver and any infection. I've used it before for deeply embedded slivers and within a day or so enough of the sliver has surfaced to safely tweeze it out. I usually put some neosporine with pain relief down first, then the salve and cover it with a band-aid. Change the dressing frequently (at least twice daily) to check the status. Clean it everytime with peroxide or witch hazel so you can see whether enough of the sliver has surfaced. Good luck, poor little thing is probably scared and in pain, but this is the fastest way I know to get the sliver out without digging around.
This is going to sound weird, but it works and contrary to thought, it actually helps get rid of pain.

Take a yellow onion and slice (with the grain) a piece larger than the wound (what ever fits the wound area). One or two layers thick at the most what ever will fit fairly comfortably in the spot.

Tape the piece in the spot and put a sock on to keep it in place. change 3 times a day.

The onion sucks out infection, cleans the wound and helps relieve pain. Do not use any other tropical (on the skin) meds or cleaning solutions with this, but it is important to continue antibiotics and other oral meds as directed by the doctor. Try for a period of 24 hours and you will see a difference you will not believe.

I used this with unbelievable success for a Brown Recluse bite, a very infected cat bite (kept me out of the hospital), and assorted lacerations and punctures. It really does work and also helps keep scarring to a minimum. The way it sucks out infection makes me believe the splinter will also advance to the surface.

Email me if you have any further questions.
Epsom Salt and water. Soak the foot in this warm solution twice a day. It will help it to come to the top. My daddy almost lost his leg due to a splinter. He decided to do something about it. This is an old fashion method, but I promise it will work. Good luck.
