Are all Emergency Rooms bad??
Question: I came there 3 days ago and they treated me very unprofessionally. I was not checked properly, they prescribed me wrong medicine, wrong diagnosis..
It was my first experience there.
Provina hospital, Illinois. USA
Answers: Not all emergency rooms are bad, but there are deffinately those hospitals lacking and ones that I would not go to! In fact in my hometown where I grew up I hated the hospital that was in our town, I refused to go to it. If I had to go I always drove the extra 45 minutes to the next one. The doctors and staff were awful! Like you said...wrong medicine, wrong diagnosis...etc.
Where I am living now the hospital as a whole and the emergency room is awesome!!! I have (unfortunately) had the pleasure of visiting more times than I would like. They are very good, very personable, and very good at what they do!
I would suggest seeing if there are any other hospitals in the area close to you and going there from now on. Usually a hospital that is like the one you described it's not usually just a bad night, it's how they function.
Good luck
I've never had that problem.
I'm sure it depends on what hospital you're going to. It couldn't hurt to call in and complain, and then switch hospitals if you can.
Emergency rooms are usually understaffed and extremely busy.
Also, patients are usually seen in order of the severity of their injuries. So, if you are in an ER waiting room with pneumonia and someone comes in with a heart attack, the doctors will (of course) tend to the other patient first.
For the most part, I've found them a pretty unpleasant place to be, but I think it's safe to say the quality of treatment depends on the hospital.
