My cheeks turn red and hot, usually after eating a lot.. What could it be, can it be from niacin from food??

Question: My cheeks are always red, sometimes even redder and they burn, usually after eating a lot of food that day. I was reading about Niacin Flushing but only with niacin supplements. But what about someone that will eat a LOT of bread at once if given the opportunity? (Isn't flour enriched with niacin or am I mixing up my vitamins?)

so: can niacin flush happen from niacin rich food or not?
Answers: yes, but it could also be caused by a food allergy, or toxicity of a specific food you partake of. not a poison but toxicity in that you are taking too much of something. too much niacin is considered toxic, as is too much aspirin or too much sugar. it more than your body can tolerate.
There could very possibly be something that you are eating that you have an allergy too. You mentioned bread and yes it could make you have a reaction but I think it could very easily be yeast. Have you been checked for yeast overgrowth???
No you won't flush from eating niacin in food. Niacin or nicotinic acid, one of the water-soluble B vitamins, improves all lipoproteins when given in doses well above the vitamin requirement. Nicotinic acid lowers the total cholesterol, bad LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, while raising the good HDL-cholesterol level. A common and troublesome side effect of nicotinic acid is flushing or hot flashes, which are the result of the widening of blood vessels. BUT patients on nicotinic acid are usually on an average daily dose of 1.5 to 3 grams per day. A slice of bread usually has less than 0.002 grams of niacin in it, so you'd need to eat at least 500 slices of bread to get a flush from the niacin!
