Scare of something he see or hear??

Question: My son now 13 has always gotten spooked when he see something that is a bit scary. He never watches horror or sci-fi movies that has mutation, mutilation, etc.
He is LIKE a person that is afraid of the dark, and the image of fear is struck in his head and his heart would start pounding.
He asked me if he should see a shrink? Any ideas on why he is like that. I always thought he would out grow it. Sometimes he could NOT even watch cartoon with violence.
Is there anybody that way? What can he DO? Thanks
Answers: I would take him to counseling to find out what is really going on with him. There are some who have an anxiety condition that is fear based. I think that he really needs to talk to someone who is qualified so they can find out where his fear is coming from.
I'm the same age and i think you should just explain to him that fear is just a reaction instilled by dogmatic propaganda and can be fixed. ask him to ask himself what reason he should be afraid. he will eventually realize that he's not.
You should take him to a shrink immediately!
He obviously is a very sensitive boy. I would let him see a shrink, his fears are holding him back. Let him sleep with a night light.
I'm easily spooked, but not quite that bad, I could watch horror flicks, as long as the light is still on, and I do have to sleep with a night light and I'm 33.
well i was like that at that age but i just slept with a light for like 5 years and it just went away.do you try telling him that there is nothing out there? maybe his friend are telling him stuff to mess with him.

i guess he has to conquer his fear if not its not going to let him live.. and yeah you should seek profecional help because this fear is holding him back
