Animals and Humans - Which do you care more for??
Question: I have to say that if i see an animal mistreated, in distress, dead, sad, and in poor condition it would upset me more than if it were a human.
I could see a human shooting himself in the head and not feel much towards it. But if i see an animal shot in the head then i would be devastated.
I think it might be because animals cant really help themselfs and us humans think that the planet is ours and we can do whatever we like.
Its just kinda weird when i can watch someone being shot etc and not feel much and if i see for example a cow being slaughtered it makes me feel sick.
Am i weird that i dont feel much for people, I have watched alot of stuff with violence etc one exception i feel great sadness for is executions of the jews in WW2, that cuts me up real bad.
Anyone else feel this way??

Yes definately, couldn't give a tuppeny toss about people, if I saw someone kicking the crap out of someone else I wouldn't raise an eyebrow but I was once arrested for smacking someone in the gob because he was hitting his dog with a lead.
Lets say I was belting along in the car, and there was a cat and someones brat in the road - tiddles would be the one that walked away.

You have a lot of learning to do if you think humans are only cruel to animals.
Try broadening your horizons a little and read about Rwanda for instance or some of the child abuse cases we read about all the time. Read what some children go through in short lifetimes. Try reading up on female circumcision and how its performed.
Your experience seems to come totally from television or the movies - try for some real life and see if you would be so calm about someone shooting themselves in the head.
Go and do some volunteer work with real people and get off your computer chair and out of the house. What you need is first hand experience to be able to form any valid opinions.

Come back and re-validate your opinion when you HAVE actually seen a person shot in the head.
I understand your feelings towards animals being treated badly by humans. It makes me feel sick too. I think we are not revolted by movies as much because we know they are not real (usually). The only movies that make me feel sick where humans are the victims are the ones based on true stories. I think most of the reason we do not have respect for all of nature today is because we have lost touch with our spiritual side and think that humans are at the pinnacle of some evolutionary ladder whereas we are no more or less important than every other organism on the planet.

Yeah. I'm with you. If I'm watching a tv show and an animal gets hurt even though I know its fake it upsets me. I also can't watch Discovery shows where one animal is killing another. I know it is the circle of life but I don't want to witness it.

As, human beings. we have the responsibility to care about animals. Therefore, everytime we commit ourselves to have pets living with us, we must make sure they receive as much love as they deserve.
Animals are soul too. They can give love as well. just observe your cat, dog or any pet, you will see how much love they can give you and how much they can care for humans as well.
They have the will, trust and faith. they don't know don't do this or that If they jump on the bed and you don't want them to, just say get down instead of saying not in the bed doggy! It means, they are optimistic.

Animals any day , we humans are a cruel and selfish lot, not content with what we are given, always wanting more, the sooner this Earth is given back to the animals the better.
i prefer animals to people most of the time
God gave us Dominion over everything,pity humans think that gives them the right to torment,torture and generally mistreat animals.I cannot understand the mind of such a person.
I would give punishment that would put the criminal in the position of the animal and have done to them what they did to the animal.So there.

1 They are more reliable
2 They don't whinge all of the time
3 Don't cause wars
4 More faithful
5 Always there when you need someone to talk to
6 They don't judge you

Humans. I'm not really into animals. Although that doesn't mean I want them to suffer or be mistreated.
It's not that we don't care for humans, we've been greatly desensetized. we all relate to animals, but if your mother were laying bleeding and your cat were laying bleeding, which one would you help? The same is true for strangers. If a stranger was laying bleeding on your doorstep and a dog, who would you help.
We listen to the news and hear of death everyday. We are truly desensetized. Know it or not , we are human and care for our own. we will always love animals.
I kind of have to agree with you...I guess it's because we don't really make a personal opinion of an animal. We either like them or we don't.
People on the other hand can respond to your actions, comments etc in a communicative way allowing us to make judgements about them.
You're never going to have a cat or dog argue with you, regularly irritate you...on the whole animals are silent (yes I know they make noises, can bite etc)...but I think you get the jist of what I am saying.
I was far more upset when my cat died and sounds silly but I felt more affection from my cat in the 10 years i had it than from when one of my nan's died.
So of course i care about my mum, dad, brother and some other relatives and friends more than animals....but on the whole I like animals better.
i am a vegetarian and total agree with your viewpoint

Animals without a doubt. I don't know why. I just can't tolerate cruelty to animals but I don't get so upset about people suffering. I agree about WW2, that was horrific. But those things still happen nowadays and animals suffer that way and worse too.
Personally, I have the greatest respect for animal rights campaigners, but not necessarily for the bombing campaigns some resort to because that's wrong.
At 3.15 pm today had my best friensd put to sleep.He was 16 yrs old & had listened to put up with genral human crap.
He was good fun had a good sense of humor [ if it meant I'm going to bugger of off let her find me cos whan she does she will feed me]
I do not feel a lot of symapthy with those in the 1st or 2nd world [ Where does 3rd world come from]
If its a natural disaster then yes I feel for them.

they give unconditional love and expect so little in return.

I definitely care for animals more. They are defenceless as opposed to humans, and humans have a lot of help for problems etc. There's only the RSPCA for animals (UK)
as far as i care animals are part of the food chain, including ickle wickle puppies and kittens. humans are just pack animals to deliver the flesh to my door step. so all in all i care neither for humans or animals on an equal basis.
For me Animals everytime, they are loyal, faithful and won't bite the hand that feeds them, unlike a lot of so called humans.
The only way an animal would kill or bite is either through hunger or because they have been beaten or trained by humans.
To call a human an animal is insulting the animal.

I think a lot of people who answered animals are not parents. When you become a parent you begin to identify with human suffering in a very emotional way. Every child you hear about being killed makes you fear for your own. Lets help the children and let the squirrels take care of themselves.
I agree with you.....animals as seen by most are unfortunately inferior to us and it so happens that weak, sick, fukced up people in our society that have no life or no control over their own lives chose to torture animals to get their kicks. It p*sses me off! I nearly joined the RSPCA but declined at the last minute as I knew that I would end up kicking the sh*t out of someone for being such total weak b*stards. With this is mind there is no doubt that I would rather spend my time with any animal than any human as they are HONEST
