It is safe to take in up to 2000% extra Daily Value of a vitamin??
Question: I know some are soluable and are flushed thru ur body thru ur pee. Is that safe really? Is it okay to keep doing that for years?
Answers: It depends on which vitamin. The Daily values are an average, your needs are different depending on your weight, age, health, eating habits, and many other factors.
The ones that can stay in your body are vitamin A and Vitamin E. You don't have to worry about Vitamin C or any of the B vitamins.
Doctors don't really know how much of each vitamin we really need, it's a subject still being researched, and there are also political factors affecting the information that reaches us about it.
It depends on the vitamin. As you say, some are flushed out of the body when there is an excess; however, some can cause MAJOR problems when taken in large quantities (Vitamin A comes to mind). Vitamin C can be taken in megadoses long-term. Before deciding to take large doses of any given vitamin, do some research to keep from harming yourself.
Depends on the individual case. Totally safe for vitamin C for instance. Not safe at all for many others. Look up the specifics of the one that you are interested in before mega dosing.
It's safe with water soluble Vitamins, because any excess is flushed out of your system. It is not safe with fat soluble Vitamins (Vitamins A, D, E & K) because they accumulate in your Liver and after a while can become toxic.
