Hi iam 18yrs old and have been slouching my back since i was 11,is there any exercies i can do help my posture?

Question: i have slight scoliosis about 8inchs my backbone curves to the left i am able to walk upright but i keep slouchin and its causing my backbone to curve in a rounded way thanks for any help u have to offer
Answers: Try to force yourself to use proper posture as often as you can, but don't force it if you start to feel a lot of pain or stiffness. I'm not sure exactly what to suggest with scoliosis, but there is a simple exercise called a back extention you can do to strengthen your lower back. Lie on your stomach on the floor or a bench and put your arms out straight ahead of you (it's alternately called doing supermans for that obvious reason). Then you just raise your arms and shoulders, and your legs up off of the ground, leaving your hips on the floor. Hold that for a few seconds and then rest and repeat. If that's too hard at first, you can try just holding one arm/shoulder and the opposite leg up at first and alternate. Lower back and abdominal strength is essential for good posture and fitness.
i would ask a doctor or personal therapist about your case. some excercises I was given to strengthen and strech my back was
-to clasp my hands with my arms hanging down behind me.
-to press my arm at a 90 degree angle against a door frame for example. hold for 30 x at a time.
-stand up against the wall, with my spine flattened against the wall. slowly move your arms up until they are even with your shoulders- keeping them flat against the wall. hold 30x at 3 positions until you reach your shoulder level.

also.. excercises like rowing that you can use to help your rhomboid muscles can help (ie.. crunch your shoulder blades together).

good luck!
im also like u and my family did not want me in that kind of position.
anyways, try getting used to an upright position.
Yoga, pilates and martial arts. Practice whichever one works for you every day, and within a month or so, you won't be slouching and it will strengthen your back. I prefer yoga. it worked great for me.

Stretch the other way as much as possible.
I am not completely sure about this but it might work Try doing crunches and running or you can try using theropy. thats what helped me the most because i have arthritis in my back and it always curves as well and i am alwasy in pain so that is the best i can offer
