Why do doctors need to proform a prostate exam??
Question: me and my friends were having a discussion when this ? came up
Answers: Prostate exam is a digital rectal exam (DRE) to check the condition of the prostate gland. It's not just to screen for cancer (A DRE is not a diagnostic test - it doesn't diagnose cancer, it's just a screening) but to assess for prostate enlargement which is usually benign but if someone is complaining of difficulty urinating (usually men 45 and older), finding that the prostate is enlarged (BPH, which is benign prostatic hyperplasia) will explain why.
If detected EARLY prostate cancer is one of the easiest forms of cancer to treat. Also, next to lung cancer, it is the most common form of cancer there is ( among men)
They don't, they just like ramming their finger up your rear.
But seriously, if the prostate is enlarged, they can feel it and an enlarged prostate is one of the signs of prostate cancer.
to find out if you have prostate cancer... read a book
prostate exams are done first to establish that the prostate is in fact in a normal state and for a baseline against which they can compare any future changes. Later they are done to see if indeed there are any changes. As the male ages changes occur in the prostate and a doctor can often head off problems if this is caught early enough. A thorough doctor will always do a prostate exam.
to find out if you have cancer or anouther illness
to see if you are older guy with high PSA whether u have cancer or not.
depends on your age, after 40 your chances of having prostate cancer increase so you get a check up ! unless of course you get the news to late and then it's either you get your prostate removed and never get it up again, or let things as they are and the cancer migrates elsewhere in your body and then you're outta here. check out TURP on the net and you won't ask yourself this question again.
