Alkaline Phosphatase? What causes ALP to be elevated? Would it cause chest pain??

Question: I was diagnosed with high ALP. Could it be caused by beer? I've been getting chest pain for a couple of months? The doctor as of yet hasn't explained my diagnosis.
Answers: Excessive use of acetaminophen (Tylenol) is one very common cause, It is an enzyme within the liver so alcohol may have some effect, but if you have been drinking alcohol with 24hr prior to the test that can also invalidate the results. ALP itself isn't likely to cause chest pains, but is an indicator of some problems with the heart.
it's a marker for inflammation or infection. it's very general and could be caused by many things all over the body. i suggest you ask your doc to explain their findings to you in detail next time you see them.
i wud reccomend a chest x ray to rule out ANY bone disease. since u say beer u r very likely to have liver ds, also causes ALP elevation, plus ur chest pain means u have some complication dueto the liver ds. u will surely need sum more investigations , my worst fear is if u have varices u might land up in bloody vommitting, u better go fast with ur investigation, do get an endoscopy done.

=( that's horrible.....
