What are ways to treat scoliosis without using corrective surgery or a brace??
Answers: Exercise, Pilate's seek out a PT and ask for Pilate's exercise for the problem. Happy 2008
Absolutely. Go to a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist. It's a slow, 6-week treatment, but the results are amazing. Find a therapist who has a background in Sports Therapy, they have better knowledge in spinal work.
I don't think there is a way to treat scoliosis without bracing or surgery. Exercise will keep you in shape, build your core muscles, and in general, do the things you should be doing anyway.
The problem, though, is that your spine is growing in a curve. Going to a message therapist, chiropractor, or other people with those kind of skills may make you feel better (or they may not, you can't tell ahead of time), but they won't *correct* the way your spine is growing. They may change the connective tissues between vertibrae, but scoliosis isn't a disease of the corrective tissues!
That being said, Pilates, yoga, and swimming are all excellent ways of exercising if you have scoliosis. There are other exercises, I'm sure, but none will treat scoliosis.
My doctors said I has a mild case of scoliosis, and I just stood up striaght and did some exersises, and then my back naturally formed into shape. It depends on how old you are, if your still developing or not.
