Tell me if it's gonna hurt??

Question: Does a root canal hurt? Also does a filling hurt? Cause I gotta go get both done and i need to know. My sis is immune to anesthesia and I don't know if I am too. I am so scared.
Answers: Different people have different sensitivities to pain. My mom can have anything done with no novocaine!

Talk to your dentist about it, so he/she is aware of your concerns.
root canals do not hurt really, they are just long and annoying.. A filing doesnt hurt either as long as you got a sweet dentist that will loosen your goosin up..
well, if you Are immune to the anesthesia then it will probably hurt but if you arent then it should only hurt for like 3 seconds. After that then it shouldnt hurt at all.
When I got a cavity filled it didn't hurt except when they gave me the novocaine shot. My mom has had a bunch of root canals and says it hurts a lot both during and after.
When, you get a filling, they probably will just give a sort of gas, that kind of sooths you. It hurts slightly. I've had about 6 done. So, yeah.
Root canals hurt worse. I think they numb you for those. Corwns hurt a bit worse than fillings, just letting you know.

The procedure didn't hurt. I had it done 2 days ago. It was uncomfortable. However, the aftermath, it feels numb, and pulsing, and is very sensitive for the next 2 days. i still can't eat any solids because it tingles painfully. I've been eating only liquefy things.

I did not get local anaesthetic. the actual surgery do not worry about. Just take time off after. i wish i took some time off like a day.
Oh my GOD... a root canal is without a DOUBT.. the MOST painful thing you will ever have done... it's really a terrible experience... I will NEVER have another one... I'll just put up with the pain and invection.. I'm REALLY SCARED to have it done again.
make sure the dentist puts enough anesthesia for you tooth.
