Retainer hurts??
Question: I recently got my braces off, but my retainer is really hurting my tounge, there's like a bit of gum or something attaching the tip of my tounge to the gum, that's where it hurts the most.
Help please. I'm in pain :(
Grr stupid retainer.
But lovely straight white teeth.
I am resisting urges to stamp on my retainer.
Help would be appreciated =] Ciao belli x
Answers: sounds to me like its hurting you on the lingual frenum. THis is the part that looks kinda like a string and goes from your tongue to the floor of you mouth. When they take the impression for the retainer it doens't always get this area accurately so when you move your tongue the frenum may be rubbing on the retainer. Go back to your orthodontist and get them to adjust the retainer in this area
Yeah, the retainer is going to hurt for awhile, probably a couple weeks until it gets situated with your teeth. It will shift your teeth where it needs them to go to fit in, so it should hurt a little. After a couple weeks, it will have made your mouth a nice, comfy home, and you can relax. :) The worst is over, just hang in there, haha.
yea mine hurt for ages it was pinchin on the skin at the back of my mouth. the next time i went to my orthodontist i told him the problem and he re- adjusted my retainer for me and it worked fine
I haven't had to wear my retainer for the past week (except when I sleep)
You'll get used to it just try not to move it around in your mouth like I done!
Sounds like the retainer is pinching. Keep wearing it and it will get better. I had the same problem when I first got my retainers.
