Possible cures for laryngitis ??

Question: I have have laryngitis (loss of the voice). Any cures or treatments for the condition. The health manual at home says drink hot lemondade or weak tea . One friend says Vitamin C and Echinchea. Other hints.
Answers: yeah, you need to give your larynx a rest. Keep talking at a minimum. Drink lots of fluids, I heard gargling salt water might help, but I don't know. Hot lemonade works for sore throats, I don't know about laryngitis. Did you go to the M.D.?
Mint tea would be the best.
ucd_grad_2005 is right, gargling with salt water will speed the healing process. Do not try to talk (write down what you need to say) -- and take an anti-inflamatory like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Do NOT take anything time-released with hot liquids -- it will cause the medicine to all be released at once and can cause overdose. But by all means, drink warm lemonade or tea. Good luck!
Make yourself a hot toddy:

Rum
Hot water/tea
Honey
A little more rum
cinnamon
lemon juice (to taste...or lemonaide)
And another splash or three of rum for good measure.

This is best in the evenings, it'll help you sleep through the night without waking up every hour or so hacking up a lung.
Drink some hot chaomile tea with some honey, use a vaporizer when u can, & don't speak! You could try a hot toddy, the rum or whiskey could burn or numb the soreness. Also, get as much rest as possible!
Stop talking and drink hot liquids.

Avoid dairy at all costs and take your vitamins! (in addition to the other answers you were given)
